According to reports from Il MattinoManchester United are in advanced talks to sign Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae. It is suggested that the South Korean has agreed to sign for the English club, with only minor details separating the parties from a total agreement.

While Kim has a minimum fee release clause in his contract of around €50 million, valid for the first two weeks in July, attempts by Napoli to give him a new contract and remove the clause have proved fruitless. While there is no agreement yet between Kim and Manchester United, according to Fabrizio Romano, the centre-back has been on the club’s shortlist since December. Kim has been a key player for Napoli since joining from Fenerbahce for €18m last summer, helping the club to their first Scudetto in 33 years.

This has led to interest from other European clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Real Madrid. Kim has been capped 49 times by South Korea and is considered one of the best centre-backs in the world by Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti.
