Real Madrid’s need for a left-back was highlighted during their 4-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League. The Premier League side targeted the right-hand side of Los Blancos, exposing Eduardo Camavinga’s limitations when used as a make-do left-back. Despite being bought as a central midfielder, Carlo Ancelotti has been using Camavinga on that flank, but the Frenchman struggled against Manchester City, with Bernardo Silva causing him constant problems and scoring two goals from that side.

Real Madrid has been linked with moves for Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe, but after their toothless performance against Manchester City, the club may need to spend their money on strengthening their defence. The reigning Champions League title-holders were completely shellshocked by the English side, who won 4-0 to seal a 5-1 aggregate victory. As a result, Manchester City will face Inter Milan in the final in Istanbul, following Inter’s recent victory over their arch-rivals AC Milan in the semifinals.

Next treble winners

Manchester City are the firm favorites to win the Champions League this season, having missed out on the title two years ago against Chelsea. With the Premier League title almost secured and a final in the FA Cup to look forward to, Man City could become the tenth team to win a treble, with the last English club to do so being Manchester United in the 1998/1999 season under Sir Alex Ferguson.

After Manchester City‘s recent victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand revealed that Pep Guardiola had texted him before the game expressing his full confidence in his team. Guardiola’s text read, “Believe me, we’ll beat them,” which showed the coach’s unwavering confidence in his team’s ability to win.
