Season 5 of Seeking Sister Wife premiered on Monday, March 4th, 2024, featuring Nailah Salahuddin, who, along with her husband, is interested in expanding their family. However, anyone who joins their family will have to navigate Nailah’s undisclosed mental illness. So, what exactly is her condition? Let’s delve into the details.

With the arrival of the new season of Seeking Sister Wife, fans are already acquainted with the Davis family and the Merrifields. Last season, the Davises found love with Danielle, who became their third wife. They also welcomed another child into the family, but some fans questioned their dynamic, as Nick Davis is a stay-at-home father while his three wives choose to work outside the home. On the other hand, the Merrifields had initially decided against polygamy, but Garrick Merrifield claimed to have received a divine message, leading them to pursue a relationship with Brazilian Roberta. However, their hopes were dashed, and now they are searching for a new love interest. Alongside these familiar couples, new families are also looking to expand.

One of the new couples introduced on the show is the Salahuddins. Nailah and Naeem, who grew up together, fell in love and have been married for fifteen years. Nailah believed it was a good idea to start searching for another wife, but she has some additional surprises to reveal. According to Starcasm, Nailah has faced several health challenges in the past, including a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder.

On the show, she goes by Nailah Salahuddin but uses the pen name Davis and has written a book about her mental health journey titled Maddened: Musings of a Bipolar Mind, published on February 9th, 2021. The book, priced at $12 in paperback, offers readers a glimpse into Nailah’s joys and pains as she navigates life as a woman living with Bipolar 1 Disorder, presented through a non-traditional style of poetry.

However, Nailah’s story encompasses more than just her Bipolar diagnosis. Her author bio reveals that she faces other health struggles as well. It provides both inspiration and sadness as she shares:

“I am Nailah Rabiah Davis, an Academic Interventionist. Teaching is my profession, and I am a mother of four beautiful children. In 2015, I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis, a condition that causes a paralyzed stomach, which triggered a series of life-changing events. In 2020, I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 with psychosis. Every day is a battle against my mind and body, but I embrace the challenge and live for the fight.”
