Fans of “Welcome To Plathville” have witnessed the evolving dynamics between Kim and Barry following their breakup in Season 5. The couple ended their relationship a while back, with Kim moving on and dating a new man named Ken Palmer. Meanwhile, Barry focused on his overall fitness alongside his son, Micah. The reality TV stars were even unwilling to be under the same roof together.

Throughout the show, viewers have seen Kim and Barry occasionally setting aside their issues to participate in special events for their children. However, fans were left wondering why the couple hadn’t pursued a divorce after all these years. Now, it appears that the reality TV stars have finally decided to legally part ways. However, Kim Plath’s surprising custody demands for their minor children have left fans in shock.

In the latest development on “Welcome To Plathville,” Kim and Barry, who split up almost two years ago, have taken the step of filing for divorce. The court documents were filed on June 26th. Yet, it was Kim’s custody demands that caught many viewers off guard. Kim, who is now a full-time resident of Florida, expressed her desire to relocate her three minor children—Amber (15), Cassia (13), and Mercy (11)—and requested primary custody.

The documents stated, “Plaintiff shows that she is a fit and proper parent to care for the minor children and that she is entitled to both temporary and permanent primary custody of the minor children.” Kim’s plans seem to go beyond just gaining custody of her children. She also requested child support from her estranged husband based on the Georgia Child Support Guidelines.

Furthermore, the TLC star sought an equitable division of assets and liabilities between her and Barry. Surprisingly, Kim also included a demand for her estranged husband to cover her attorney fees. Fans were left puzzled as to why Kim opted for primary custody rather than joint custody, especially considering her civil relationship with Barry.
