Deon Derrico, star of Doubling Down With The Derricos, took to social media on Saturday to share some heartbreaking news. Deon’s nephew, Amani, has sadly passed away after a prolonged battle with health issues.

“My family, friends, and fans… It is with great sadness that I (Deon Derrico) announce the passing of my loving nephew Amani Barkley! Our family is devastated.”
Amani was the son of Deon’s late brother, Christopher S. Turner. The family had only recently reconnected with Amani, a moment that was featured on Doubling Down With The Derricos. As viewers learned more about Amani, they quickly grew fond of him.

A few weeks ago, Deon shared that Amani had undergone an emergency liver transplant, which unfortunately did not succeed. After his body rejected the liver, Amani was placed back on the transplant list and underwent two liver transplants within two weeks, neither of which were successful.
The family was heartbroken to see Amani, a vibrant young man, struggle so intensely with his health. This loss is especially difficult for GG, Deon’s mother, as Amani was a cherished link to her late son Christopher. Just a week before Amani’s passing, GG had posted a heartfelt plea for prayers on Instagram, expressing hope for his recovery:
