Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Sadio Mane’s situation at Bayern Munich amidst reports linking him with a summer transfer to Premier League clubs Manchester United and Newcastle.

Mane’s first season at Bayern, following his €32 million move from Liverpool, has been disappointing, with the 31-year-old scoring 12 goals and creating six assists in 37 appearances. This is a significant drop from his performances at Anfield, where he was a consistent performer. There are rumours that Mane, who has an Expected Transfer Value (xTV) of €55m, could return to England this summer and has been linked to Chelsea as well.

However, Romano has confirmed that Mane’s intention is to remain at Bayern. The winger and his agency recently held talks with the German club to clarify things after a difficult first season. Mane hopes to win titles and improve his record at Bayern next season, making it clear he wants to stay.

Tuchel to force Mane out of Bayern?

There are reports suggesting that Sadio Mane’s wish to remain at Bayern Munich may not be fulfilled. According to Sky Sports Deutschland, Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel does not see a future for the player at the club. Mane’s recent performance was underwhelming, and he was given only six minutes of playtime against Schalke in a 6-0 win last weekend. This has been his least amount of action since returning to the squad after being suspended for a dispute with teammate Leroy Sane. Mane has struggled with form and fitness issues throughout the season, making it difficult for him to earn regular game time ahead of other players like Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Thomas Muller.

Despite his recent struggles, there have been surprising links to Manchester United in particular. However, manager Erik ten Hag typically favours targeting younger players in the transfer market. Mane could be viewed as a marquee addition for Newcastle, though.
