Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has shared video evidence of the racist abuse he has faced from opposition fans during La Liga matches this season. On Sunday, Valencia fans targeted the winger with racist chants, leading to the game being temporarily stopped after Vinicius informed the referee. He was later sent off after a clash with Valencia’s Hugo Duro in the final minutes of the game. This is not the first time the 22-year-old has been subjected to racist taunts during a La Liga match. He has called on authorities to tackle the issue and posted a video on social media to refute claims that only individuals or small groups are responsible for the abuse. The footage shows large groups of opposition fans calling him a monkey and telling him to ‘go and die’ among other racist slurs. Vinicius has called for action to punish the culprits and clubs sportingly, and for sponsors and TV channels to take responsibility. He has received support from the football world, including Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe, while La Liga president Javier Tebas has faced criticism for his response to the incident.
